Center for STEM Diversity - to help Tufts University diversify the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields. We focus on increasing participation of women and students from groups traditionally underrepresented in engineering and science. We also work with students who are the first in their families to attend college, and with students from lower-income backgrounds. We are an inclusive organization, and any student, staff, or faculty who is interested in helping diversify the STEM fields is welcome at the Center for STEM Diversity.
Leonard Carmichael Society: Literacy and Education - a sub-group of the Leonard Carmichael Society which offers services and advocacy to promote literacy and education in Tufts' host communities. This sub-group includes ASAP (SAT Tutoring), ESL (English as a Second Language) for OneSource, Junior Achievement, Kids to College, and Tutoring.
PACE CENTER: Transforming Elementary Science through LEGO™ Engineering Design - This is an NSF funded research project involving a small number of student volunteers each year to assist elementary school teachers with implementing a LEGO based science program in their classrooms.
STOMP - Student Teacher Outreach Mentorship Program - A program for undergraduate engineering students to partner with Boston area K-12 educators and implement engineering-based curriculum in the classroom!
Tufts Center for Engineering Educational Outreach Academic Enrichment Workshops - The CEEO uses LEGO and other hands-on tools to help students explore the engineering design process, math, science and engineering using open-ended design challenges.
Work-study: Community Service - to develop off campus community service work study jobs for all work study students (undergrad and graduate) with federal, state or local public or private non-profit agencies that are in the public interest. Students must receive federal work study funds to be eligible.
Writing Fellows Program: Clemente Course Tutoring - Tufts Writing Fellows, who are trained undergraduate tutors, have the opportunity to run writing workshops and provide writing assistance to adults enrolled in the DotWell/Bard College Clemente Course in the Humanities at the Codman Square Health Center in Dorchester.
